Dunedin report September - november 2025

The print department at Otago Polytechnic was delighted to have a day learning Pronto Plate printing with Marci Tackett.

A group of senior students elected to join in and came prepared with images they processed the day prior under the guidance of PLab Studio lead Marion Wassenaar. Marci began with presenting an informative PowerPoint show, followed by a demonstration in preparing ink, inking and printing.  Then, minds blown and all chomping at the bit, aprons were on and intensive printing began. Thank you, Marci, for exciting us with this medium that opens up a wide spectrum from playfulness and precise colour separations.  It was interesting to see students quickly explore possibilities like printing the plates by hand, experimenting with the scumble of excess ink and printing into handmade paper.
