I have been a printmaker for about 10 years now, after attending a few workshops locally I joined PCANZ to find further opportunities. My first Summer School was in 2019 in Christchurch and that was a real eye-opener to the possibilities of print…
A public servant for the last 20+ years, I have a lot of experience in project management, collaboration and governance - which should prove useful in working with the committee to keep PCANZ delivering for members.
I live on the Kapiti Coast and I'm a regular participant in Wellington Region PCANZ activities. The Regional meetups are great for building community as well as learning more about methods, ink, paper etc. While I enjoy experimenting with new printmaking techniques I tend to revert to linocut more often than not.

Kathy Reilly
TREASURER
Takaka
#fhtogglels/Read Full Bio/Close/ib
I am a farmer and full time artist from Mohua Golden Bay. My family are farming intergenerational land at Takaka, and while I have mostly retired from daily farming activities, my studio overlooks our grazing pastures and the mountains that encircle the Takaka valley. I studied Graphic Design at Ara, then known as Christchurch Polytechnic.
I have since then had experience in corporate governance at Executive and Chair level, and have owned a start up business operating a delicatessen, café and catering company. We are currently involved as owners of several other businesses.
My printmaking practice has grown from small works in frames distributed to galleries throughout NZ and Australia, to print installation and sculptural works on as much scale as my studio can accommodate.
I am currently working as Treasurer for PCANZ to give back to the organisation from whom I have gained almost all of my printmaking knowledge. Printmaking is my passion, and I feel I am now utilising so much of the detail learned in all the many Summer Schools I have attended over the past 12 years of my membership.

EMAIL SECRETARY

#fhtogglels/Read Full Bio/Close/ib
My name is Carolyn Currie and I was born and raised and currently still live in Otautahi/Christchurch.
My printmaking journey started at Hagley Community College in 2006, joining the paint/printmaking class with the high school students twice a week. I had very little knowledge of printmaking at this point but completely fell in love with the process during the year. I returned again year after year as it was hard to break the addiction!
In 2018, I enrolled at Ara Institute to study their Bachelor of Design degree course in Applied Visual Arts, and thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years of study there. At the beginning of my 2019 year of study the Print Council Summer School was held in Christchurch, using the facilities at Ara Institute. This was my introduction to the Print Council and I have really enjoyed getting to know a wider community of printmakers and also to have the opportunity of being involved with the different exhibitions and events that are held throughout the year.

EXHIBITIONS COORDINATOR

Originally from the UK, I am a public servant currently working in the arts, culture and heritage sector. My printmaking journey began when I enrolled for a printmaking evening class in the UK in 1999. After that first year's introduction, I was completely hooked and went back to study printmaking for a further 2 years. Since then, I have spent every bit of spare time I have learning, exploring and having fun with print processes, particularly linocut.
My family and I emigrated to New Zealand in 2010 and we settled in Wellington. I discovered and joined PCANZ in 2018, and have been an eager participant in summer schools, exhibitions and print exchanges since then. For the past three years, we have been lucky to hold Wellington Regional PCANZ monthly sessions, which have been a great opportunity to share and learn new techniques with other members. I have very much enjoyed connecting with other PCANZ members as well as participating in several exhibitions, so I am keen to support these activities on the Committee so that others can continue to enjoy and participate in them.

Diana Smallfield
EVENT/SUMMER SCHOOL ORGANISER
Auckland
#fhtogglels/Read Full Bio/Close/ib
My name is Di Smallfield and I live with my partner in the bush in Tamaki Makaurau’s North Shore. I endeavour to manage my family commitments with my art practice, garden and PCANZ responsibilities. I have been the PCANZ Auckland Rep for the past 3 years; I am currently on the executive committee, co-ordinate the Quarterly Newsletter, and the annual Summer School.
I have huge respect for the Print Council and the opportunities it offers printmaking across the motu.
I have a Post Grad degree from Elam, UoA, majoring in printmaking and Painting, and my career background over the past 4 decades has been in secondary visual art education at a local, regional and national level.
My art practice is as a print/mixed-media artist. The local landscape, and flora and the tenuous connections between past and present communities which have dictated our future and the environment, are the stimulus from which I interpret and rearrange imagery to suit my continuum of process.

I love printmaking. Even now the smell of oil based inks brings me back to the excitement I experienced while working in my first print studio at school.
I find the materials and processes inherent in printmaking provide me endless opportunities to explore new territories and to continually refine old ones.
I feel I was very lucky to have discovered the Print Council just a few months after moving to New Zealand in 2006. The warmth and generosity that was shown towards me way back then encouraged me to eventually become a volunteer for the organisation in around 2014.
I have been volunteering off and on since then.

Sally-Ann Davies
WEBSITE COORDINATOR/TECH LEAD
Taupo
#fhtogglels/Read Full Bio/Close/ib
Kia ora koutou, I'm Sally-Ann Davies. Though a country girl at heart, having grown up on a dairy farm in England, my passion has always been art. From drawing and painting as a child to studying Fine Art in Liverpool, and then sharing my knowledge through teaching, art has been a constant in my life.
My journey to Aotearoa, initially meant to be a two-year adventure, has wonderfully extended to 25 years. I'm now lucky to call beautiful Taupo home, alongside my husband John, who has been my biggest motivator in pursuing my art full-time. A significant turning point came after my cataract surgery 15 years ago, which reignited my desire to create art for myself, alongside teaching. Balancing both for many years, I eventually took the leap to become a full-time artist in 2021.
I'm passionate about sharing my skills through printmaking workshops teaching both children and adults. My introduction to the PCANZ, was thanks to John Brebner of Home Print in Feilding, has been invaluable. While my Fine Art degree focused on painting, I've truly discovered and developed my love for printmaking through PCANZ and teaching my students.
Now, with more time available, I'm eager to give back to this wonderful community that has supported me so much. I'm excited to contribute to the Print Council and work alongside you all.

Kia ora koutou
Ko Jude Gordon ahau.
I have been printmaking and exhibiting for three decades. My passion for this medium was prompted by the need to introduce printmaking to the students of South Auckland where I taught Visual Art for forty years. During my time as an assistant teacher and then an HOD at MHS I initiated and curated exhibitions for the students and the staff. I have a Bachelor of Arts, a Post graduate degree in Media Studies and a diploma of Design from IIam in Christchurch as part of my teaching diploma. I have also attended many print workshops and classes while in Wellington and Auckland.
I have been one of the Auckland PCANZ reps with Di Smallfield for several years and I shifted to Wellington from Auckland in 2023.
Now recently retired I am currently developing and refining my own printmaking practice while acquainting myself with the wonderful Wellington printmakers.
