The Franklin Print Group is coordinated by Pukekohe High School Art teacher’s Vicky Moore-Allen and Esther Hansen, and artist and educator Jude Gordon. We meet on a Thursday evening at Pukekohe High school from 6 till 8pm ($5 fee per night) or at a group members house in a non-tutored environment. We also sometimes meet on weekends for shared workshops on Eco printing, mono printing, woodcutting, etching and alternative photographic processes. It is best to contact a member to be sure we are meeting that week. The aim of the group is to enable printmakers to network, have a space to complete artworks, exhibit and sell artworks and extend technical skills. It is also a space where artists can be supported to develop their practice in printmaking. We have access to a large print press and 3 smaller print presses through the school. The group works on developing their own individual practice but also works on collaborative projects like the Honouring, a Circular print exhibition, 2017, that had 52 printmakers from around NZ take part in it. The 125 Celebrate 125 project (ongoing) that seeks printmakers from throughout NZ to contribute two A4-paper prints. These 2 prints will be made into two carefully collated boxed sets, to be displayed and archived as part of the 125 Suffrage Celebrations in NZ. And our current project which is a large-scale collaborative woodcut of flora and fauna.
Members: Vicky Moore-Allen, Esther Hansen, Jude Gordon, Bridget Burnett, Sue Colmer, Elise Smith, Meg Wilson, Rachel Schanzer, Joanna Fieldes.
