2 colour printing challenge
Venue: Creative Arts Napier
Dates: 6 - 26 November 2026
Opening: Friday 6 November from 5.00-7.00pm
Organisers: Julie Moonlight (julieamoonlight@gmail.com) and Jude Gordon
BRIEF:
We are excited to announce that the next PCANZ members’ exhibition will be held at Creative Arts Napier (Main Gallery), 16 Byron Street, Napier from 6 November to 26 November 2026. An exhibition opening will take place on Friday 6 November from 5.00-7.00pm. The timing for this exhibition is great as it coincides with the Hawke’s Bay Art Trail weekends, so there will be increased opportunities to engage visitors with our exhibition and printmaking.
PCANZ members are invited to enter an artwork using printmaking techniques limited to two unspecified colours to express their ideas. Tonal and transparent variations of the two colours are also acceptable.
The subject matter and the printmaking techniques used is up to you. This will be a great opportunity to explore what can be achieved with a limited palette.
Both 2D or 3D works will be accepted but the size of the artwork must be below A3 (roughly 29.7cm x 42cm) due to space limitations. Works can be framed or unframed but must be ready to hang / display with clear display instructions.
Works can be for sale but the Gallery will deduct 30% commission from the retail price you set.
The cost of entry is $40 for one work.
Selection will be based on artworks meeting the brief criteria and also any space limitations.
We look forward to seeing what you create for this exhibition. If you have any questions, you are welcome to reach out.

Hanging / display requirements
All work to be attached with a swing-tag identifying the Artwork by title and retail price as CAN will hang / display the works and produce labels for each Artwork exhibited. Framed works must be ready to hang - that is with hanging eye hooks and wire or string. We will confirm whether unframed works can be hung by magnets or another method. Please provide hanging / display instructions if you have particular display requirements.
Although every care will be taken with artworks, please note insurance for artwork is the artist’s responsibility.
While PCANZ takes all care with exhibition works, the responsibility lies with the artist, especially for very fragile works. We would strongly recommend that artists consider very carefully the level of fragility and whether the work is sufficiently robust to be in a public exhibition. If there are concerns about the robustness of the work, we would recommend the artist does the packaging, delivery, installation, de-installation, re-packaging and collection of their work themselves.
Make sure you have the following information ready before you fill out the colophon:
Brief statement about the artist 150-word limit (describes the intention, inspiration or ideas that inform your work)

Brief statement about the work (50 words max)
Brief information about the media/techniques, plus size of artwork (framed if applicable) and format used (2D or 3D).
