Overview
Suminagashi and image transfers are both ways to create another layer. These layers can be a base, a final touch or even used as a chine-collé.
Day one we will explore suminagashi also known as the floating ink process on different surfaces from thin to thick papers and how they can be used within your printing or creative process.
We will then get started on learning a few transfer processes. This can be used with photocopy images, magazines, newspapers, etc. We will explore multiple mediums to transfer images, some require solvents as well as other transfer techniques.
By the end of the 2 days you will have a few more layers to work with (in another workshop or your studio). Along with having a few finished outcomes using the 2 processes in tandem.
Toni Mosley - Profile
Toni Mosley is an artist/printmaker. Her passion for works on paper is a part of her own practice (prints, drawings, artist books). She has lived in New Zealand for several years and has a love for working within the community whether this is with pop-up print workshops, art classes she teaches to all ages and fundraising projects such as her Pay&Display vending machine.
When she is not teaching she creates work in her studio, Blue Bathtub Press, inspired by the people she meets and the stories they tell.
Since calling New Zealand home she has been a finalist multiple times in the WSA Painting and Printmaking Award, she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in New Zealand and overseas.
