Auckland Report Sept. - Nov. 2026

Bridget Burnett

On a very rainy and windy Sunday some members of the Auckland group recently gathered at the Takapuna Library in The Angela Morton Room. This special space is dedicated to New Zealand Artists and houses a comprehensive art book collection, as well as filing drawers full of resources collected and donated over the years. There is also a precious collection of handmade books. This occasion was hosted by Pippa Mothersole, who manages the Angela Morton room, and our very own treasures, the two Toni’s (Hartill and Mosley). We viewed a selection of hand printed artist books from the collection held at the library. The room is open to the public during normal Library hours.

Each artist brings their own interpretation of the words of Aotearoa poet and writer Cilla McQueen ‘In a Slant Light’, developing responses that remain distinct yet quietly resonant.
