Waikato Report December-February 2026

Vicki Jones

Waikato printmakers meet socially for morning tea every two months from March to November. As part of the recent gathering, several members shared work they are doing at the moment and the processes involved.

Caroline Peacock talked about a reduction print she is

working on. While also sharing her journey to

becoming a full-time artist. She also has an exhibition

coming up at Hamilton’s Artspost, opening on 28th

November, and will be presenting an artist’s talk on

December 1st. She is also offering a four week adult-

child class as a way for adults and children to connect

and have fun together... maybe an idea for other

regions to try out?

Steph McLellan showed us a linocut of the local

countryside, inspired by UK printmaker Angela Harding.

She is considering how she might incorporate the added

colours (tested with watercolour) through printing.

Lori Pittard shared her journey as an artist and her

work towards a diploma of Visual Maori and Indigenous A

rt. Some of her prints were attached to wooden blocks.

Her work incorporated aspects of her journey into

wellness after a knee injury – and her goal of being able

to walk on the beach without pain – and the beach walk

that provided the driftwood from which the boxes were

suspended.

Renee Termaat showed us some of the

presentations from an online International Block

Printing Fest run by 3 dotted penguins that she took

part in... lots of artists and lots of ideas...

Upcoming events include a

Cyanotype workshop with

Lynn Taylor at Artspost in January,

NZPPA closing

date on December 10th.

Several Waikato PCANZ members have received

their exchange prints as part of the PCANZ 10x10

initiative... a fun way to connect with other print artists –

thank you PCANZ for facilitating this.
