Waikato Report September - November 2025
Vicki Jones
There’s been lots happening for printmakers in Hamilton and the wider Waikato area over the recent months, and PCANZ members have been involved in a number of the events.
We didn’t have our usual social gathering in July, but instead invited members to attend the openings of several exhibitions at the Hamilton WSA Arts Post Gallery

The Hamilton ArtsPost Gallery hosted the PCANZ exhibition of work inspired by the late Ruth Davey “With Ruth in Mind,” in the Ruth Davey Gallery, 10 July to 9 August. It was a selected exhibition of 31 A4, unframed prints, hung alongside five framed prints by Ruth. Visitors were also able to browse the collection of Ruth Davey prints for sale; proceeds from these sales help fund the Ruth Davey Merit Printmaking prize at the annual NZPPA.
Alongside this exhibition was the National Youth Art Awards with a print prize sponsored by PCANZ. This year’s winner was Penamino Tuia with his work O A’U LENEI.

At the same time the annual WAIPRINT exhibition was available for viewing, with work by Waikato Society of Arts printmakers, many of whom are PCANZ members.
