Te Papa Print Works on Paper tour - September 2025

Lizzie Bisley is Curator Modern Art at Te Papa and this year she is personally selecting work from New Zealand and international printmakers for interested PCANZ members to view.

This is a very special behind the scenes tour where Lizzie's extensive knowledge of the work offers great depth on the history of printmaking. Seeing the works up close reveals details that photos fail to capture.

They have a maximum of 15 visitors back of house for the tour, but if there are more people interested, then a second group could tour at 12 noon.

Cost is $30 per person, and we would need to be at the information desk on the first floor 20mins before the tour begins.

Key information:

Wednesday 24 September 2025

Starting at 11am. (And then 12noon if extra people)

Cost $30 per person

Places are limited so secure your place by email below.

Book your spot with Jo Lysaght (Wairarapa PCANZ rep) who’s organising the tour with Te Papa by emailing jo@hollybush.nz

Once we have confirmed numbers, another email will be sent with further details.

Nick Brandon has just completed a series of print making classes covering many different techniques over 30 weeks. Creative Communities provided partial funding so that the cost for attendees was affordable. Further classes and workshops with visiting artists are now planned.

Here are a couple of photos of work created by some of the participants. The first is a colour reduction Lino cut by Anne Benson and the second is a mezzotint by Simon King. Both first time making prints with these techniques!

A letterpress workshop is being held at 1.00pm on Sunday 13 July at the Masterton Art Club. It is being run by Graham Judd who is taking his Albion press on a mini tour. One place left if anyone is interested contact nickbrandon75@gmail.com The cost is $65.
