Our groups first print meeting for the year isn’t till late March.
Duncan Foord’s solo exhibition was the opening event on our print calendar, and was well attended. It is great to see our members showcasing their work at local galleries and being supported by our group.
Members who were available in February met for a coffee to share what they had created over the holiday period and to put together a print programme for the year that is member driven. This was followed by a group push to see printmaker Mayumi Sherburn’s latest work on offer at Space Studio and Gallery and Brie Rate’s work at A gallery. Mayumi, Duncan’s and our group exhibition can still be viewed through the Space Studio Gallery’s website (past and present exhibitions – click on title to bring up work) for anyone interested.
We are looking forward to welcoming several new people to our group as a direct result of the two print workshops we ran in conjunction with our end of year exhibition, or who visited print studios during the Manawatu art trail.
We will be kicking off the year with some Eco Printmaking run by Fliss Newton at our March meeting.
Planning is also underway for two group outings to support upcoming exhibitions that members are involved with – A wetlands visit and a guided tour of the Sarjeant Gallery that will be the inspiration for our end of year exhibition.
