‘Celebration’ exhibition is an exciting opportunity for PCANZ members to show their work in conjunction with the book launch of Proof: Two decades of Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. Past. present and looking forward to be held at Aratoi, Wairarapa Museum of Art and History from 4th March to 4th June 2023.

Celebration Exhibition Opening 4 May 2023 - Floor Talk by Dr Carole Shepheard

Floor Talk - As selector for the exhibition, Dr Carole Shepheard spoke of the exciting developments in printmaking in Aotearoa today and the role PCANZ has played in fostering a vibrant national printmaking community through learning and connections. She also spoke to the diversity and innovation of the work in the exhibition.

Celebration Exhibition and Book Launch

Proof: Two decades of Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. Past, present and looking forward

Venue: Aratoi, Wairarapa Museum of Art and History

Exhibition dates: 4th March to 4th June 2023

Opening and book launch: Saturday 4th March 2023 at 11.00am Exhibition Opening 
Followed by time for viewing, lunch / refreshments   
then 1.30pm Floor Talk with Dr Carole Shepheard  

Entries: We are fortunate to have Dr Carole Shepheard as the selector for this exhibition. Each artist may submit 2 entries maximum.

Entry cost: This is to be a celebration for all Print Council members. There will be no entry cost.

Types of works: Theme: Open. Format/ media: Open. Ceiling hung work will be permitted. Plinths will also be available for some works. All wall hung work must be framed (unless framing is inappropriate). Frames must be black or white. Work may be collaborative. Work that has been completed within the last three years will be acceptable as long as it has not been previously shown at Aratoi.

Catalogue: The exhibition catalogue is available for purchase from Aratoi at the gallery shop, or email info@aratoi.co.nz to have a copy posted. Cost: $20. Postage is $5 if required.

Celebration Exhibition Brief:

Delivery of work: Please deliver work to the Gallery between Tuesday 14th February and Wednesday 22nd February 2023. Note: the gallery is not open on Mondays. Works can be hand delivered or couriered to the front door of the gallery at 12 Bruce Street, Masterton 5810. All framed work must have D rings or hooks to allow hanging. Other works must come with clear instructions for assembly / display etc. A photograph should be included with the instructions if necessary.

**LATEST UPDATE: 15 FEBRUARY 2023 - Aratoi are keeping to the dates as planned (above) for this exhibition. However, due to some areas being badly affected by Cyclone Gabrielle, Aratoi acknowledge that for some people delivery on time will be challenging. Aratoi are happy to offer some leeway and will accommodate work if it is arriving late. If you are affected, please to let them know and when you work is expected to arrive.

IMPORTANT: Packaging and Delivery Instructions - To ensure the safe packaging and delivery of your work please do read the instructions PDF at the button below. At the bottom is a check list. Please do use it. There are a lot of works arriving and we do want yours to arrive safely and in good condition.


Return of works: This will be done by the Gallery. Your work will be returned in the same packaging that it was received in so please make sure it is packaged appropriately when it is delivered. Work will not be couriered by the gallery if the packaging is inadequate. You will need to include a sheet of paper with your address and phone number with your delivery so it can be stuck onto the packaged work for its return.

  • Included a sheet of paper with your name and phone number clearly written on it, suitable for pasting onto your packaging upon its return.
