What a diverse group we are indulging our printmaking passion with so many different media employed including udon noodles! Paper hand coloured with flowers and leaves printed with beautiful botanical tetrapak etchings. Golden threads stitched to enhance gelli prints. Gelli print backgrounds for a bookbinding class Ronnie Martin is giving at Quilt Symposium 2026 in Christchurch – Threads of Our Time 1-6 October at Burnside High School. https://quiltsymposium.com/ronnie-martin/ Vicki Smith has a tetrapak print in the opening exhibition at the new Tawera Nelson Arts Hub at 77 Trafalgar Street, Millers Acre beside the Nelson Bus Hub and River Kitchen. “Ordinary Wonders” features more than 80 personal stories gathered from people around Te Tauihu, illustrated by artists handed the story. The artwork ultimately destined to be donated to the person who provided their story. The exhibition is a collaborative between Hiwa (Arts Council Nelson) and Hikitia, a community-led primary prevention initiative implemented by RISE (Respect Inspire Support Empower) to stop family and sexual violence before it starts. On until September 16th M-F 10am to 5pm, Sat 10am to 2pm, Sun Closed, free entry.
We have had three get togethers this quarter with our next on Sunday 30 August at NMIT G Block from 10am to 4pm open to anyone interested in seeing what we are doing and wanting to have a go or renew an interest. If you’re like me come for the camaraderie eat cake, drink coffee and sharpen your tools.
